MPC ship fresh Audi from Melbourne for Supabarn

A race is underway in pit lane to rescue the #47 Audi’s LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour hopes.

Theo Koundouris crashed the #47 Supabarn Audi at the top of the Mountain in Practice 3.

Koundouris crashed rearwards at Reid Park, triggering a red flag.

The car was too damaged to make Practice 4, which was topped by Kelvin van der Linde.

The post-mortem on the #47 saw the Melbourne Performance Centre send a spare car from its workshop.

The spare car arrived at Mount Panorama at 6:00am local time on Saturday morning.

Speaking with Supercars.com, team boss Troy Russell was hopeful of a quick turnaround.

“There’s a lot to do to get it ready for the race,” he said.

“We need update the spare car from Evo I spec to Evo II.

“That includes inlet manifolds, telemetry, pretty much everything.

“If we can’t make qualifying then we’ll start the race from pit lane.

“We’re hopeful we can make the race tomorrow; it’s a big job."

It wasn't the only incident on Friday; the #888 Triple Eight Mercedes-AMG found the Griffins Bend wall in Practice 3.

Prince Jefri Ibrahim crashed the car in the early stages of the session, and didn't set a time.

The car was repaired for Practice 4, with Broc Feeney taking the car to ninth on the time sheets.

Cars will roll out for Practice 5 at 8:05am local time on Saturday.

Sunday’s race is scheduled to start at 5:15am.
