Mercedes-AMG gunning for fourth straight IGTC win at Indy

Mercedes-AMG gunning for fourth straight IGTC win at Indy

> Three Pro crews amongst four nominations

Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli championship leader Mercedes-AMG can call on a full complement of IGTC nominations when it tackles the Indianapolis 8 Hour Presented by AWS next weekend.

Mercedes-AMG has maximum manufacturers' points thanks to its one-two finishes at Bathurst and Spa, and could clinch the crown with a race to spare if results go its way at The Brickyard on Saturday 8 October.

Those two wins followed hot on the heels of victory at Kyalami, which closed out the 2021 season.

And it could now extend that winning streak to four after nominating the maximum number of Pro cars – three – as well as a Pro-Am entry for the US leg of IGTC’s globe-trotting calendar.

Drivers' championship leader Jules Gounon – who won at Bathurst and Spa – joins Russell Ward and Philip Ellis in the Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing line-up, while Dani Juncadella – who lies seven points behind the Frenchman – is partnered by Raffaele Marciello and Daniel Morad in the factory-backed Craft-Bamboo entry.

Its other Pro class nomination, US Racetronics, features former IGTC champion Tristan Vautier plus Steven Aghakani and Loris Spinelli.

Bathurst winners SunEnergy1, whose entry once again includes Kenny Habul and Martin Konrad and will be overseen by Akkodis ASP, completes Mercedes-AMG's IGTC line-up at Indianapolis.

Four more Three Pointed Stars are also tackling an event that closes out Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS's 2022 season.

The event’s full entry list will be released later this week before all IGTC nominations are revealed on Monday.
