Attempto and Sainteloc to spearhead Audi Sport’s Gulf 12 Hours attack

Audi Sport factory squads Attempto Racing and Sainteloc Racing will be aiming to end this year’s Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli campaign on a high when they contest the Gulf 12 Hours next month.

Four R8 LMS GT3s – all of which will receive IGTC nominations – are confirmed for the season finale at Circuit Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi on December 9-11 where five factory drivers are split across two entries.

Attempto won the race in 2019 after also competing there in 2018 and earlier this year, and now returns with the formidable line-up of Mattia Drudi, Ricardo Feller and Kelvin van der Linde. The team’s second car features Attempto’s Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS regular Alex Aka, Finlay Hutchison – who was part of the squad’s Asian Le Mans Series line-up earlier this year – and 18-year-old single-seater convert Pietro Delli Guanti.

Sainteloc, meanwhile, has yet to name its privateer crew. However, its Pro line-up mixes the experience of Christopher Haase and Patric Niederhauser with promising GT3 newcomer Erwan Bastard who won both the European and French GT4 Silver Cup titles earlier this year, also at the wheel of Audis.

Attempto is yet to win an IGTC round, while Sainteloc scored the last of its three successes at Indianapolis in 2021. All have featured Haase, whose record for most IGTC victories (five) is now shared with Jules Gounon.
