> Audi Sport Team Car Collection on top in first official session
> Result: Night Practice
Christopher Haase’s early flying lap remained unbeaten throughout the first official session of this year’s Kyalami 9 Hour earlier this evening.
The Audi Sport Team Car Collection R8 posted a best of 1m42.840s after 15 of the 90-minute Night Practice, which began just as light was beginning to fade over Midrand. Indeed, the final hour of Saturday’s race will be run in darkness judging by this evening’s conditions.
Haase’s time was almost two tenths shy of Matt Campbell’s unofficial lap record set in testing earlier today but 0.213s quicker than the Walkenhorst BMW driven by Sheldon van der Linde who was relieved of top spot by the Audi.
WRT’s #31 entry once again featured in the top-three after Kelvin van der Linde lapped half-a-tenth shy of his brother, while Dylan Pereira continued to impress by placing local squad Team Perfect Circle fourth overall and best of the Porsche contingent.
Dinamic Motorsport’s Earl Bamber was just 0.011s behind the Lechner Racing-run 911 and 0.158s ahead of Jules Gounon in the best of M-Sport’s Bentleys.
Cars are back on track tomorrow morning at 09:45 SAST for Pre-Qualifying. Watch live coverage of that as well as Friday’s Qualifying and Pole Shootout sessions on SRO’s GT World Youtube channel.
