> Winkelhock and Hutchison team up in first of two R8 LMS GT3s
Sainteloc Racing will field two of Audi Sport’s entries at each Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli round this year.
A pair of R8 LMS GT3s will also contest Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS, which shares the Total 24 Hours of Spa with Intercontinental GT Challenge.
But two of Sainteloc’s Audis will travel further afield, first to the USA in October for the Indianapolis 8 Hour and then on to South Africa in time for December’s Kyalami 9 Hour. A race in the Middle East, which replaces the cancelled Suzuka 10 Hours, will be confirmed in due course.
Audi Sport factory driver and 2017 Intercontinental champion Markus Winkelhock shares one of the cars with Scottish rising star Finlay Hutchison who has recent experience of the R8.
Fred Vervisch joins them in GT World Challenge Europe, but their Intercontinental co-driver and the team’s second line-up will be confirmed before the Total 24 Hours on Spa, which kicks off the campaign on July 31-August 1.
“I’m absolutely ecstatic to have joined Sainteloc for 2021, especially with two incredible team-mates like Fred and Markus”, said Hutchison. “This really is going to be my most high-profile season yet, it’s an amazing opportunity at this point in my career and I can’t wait to get started with the team at the test this week at Paul Ricard.
“Over the last couple of seasons I’ve gained some very good experience racing Audis in GT World Challenge Europe, and I’m looking forward to putting everything I’ve learned to good use with the guys at Sainteloc. I couldn’t wish for two better team-mates, it should be an amazing season.”
