FP3: Talbot trumps Shahin following lengthy stoppage

FP3: Talbot trumps Shahin following lengthy stoppage

Result: Practice 3

Audi crews maintained their early stranglehold at this year's LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour after Liam Talbot topped the FP3 times in Coinspot's R8 LMS Evo II GT3.

However, the continued participation of another Audi is now in doubt following Theo Koundouris' accident at Reid Park midway through the Am driver-only session.

The Supabarn entry suffered significant right-rear damage when it snapped sideways exiting Reid Park, over-corrected and ended up in the outside wall approaching Sulman Park.

FP2 pace-setter Brad Schumacher led before the 15-minute red flag period but was replaced up front soon after the session resumed by Talbot who twice lowered the benchmark. His 2m06.216s was three tenths quicker than Schumacher's Bronze best from this morning and 0.4s better than Yasser Shahin could manage in Team Valvoline's Audi, which ended FP3 in second.

Schumacher slotted into third despite setting two fastest sector times on his final run, while the best placed Mercedes-AMGs of Martin Konrad (SunEnergy1) and Craft-Kevin Tse (Craft-Bamboo) completed the top-five.

The day's final practice session, which starts at dusk and ends in darkness, gets underway at 17:05 AEST.
