Bathurst: Mostert makes strong start on the Mountain

> Result: Practice 1

Chaz Mostert led an Audi one-two in the opening practice session of this year’s LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour this morning.

Last year’s pole-winner set two outright fastest laps in quick succession – the second a 2m.04.0879s – late in the 40-minute session to head Frederic Vervisch by 0.2630s.

Another Supercars regular, Tony D’Alberto, finished less than a tenth further back to make it three Pro-Am entries inside the top-three. His Wall Racing Lamborghini pipped the best of the Pro cars and IGTC contingent, which was headed by Thomas Preining’s Manthey EMA Porsche.

The best of the Mercedes-AMGs was next up in the hands of 2022 winner Luca Stolz who jumped SunEnergy1’s car up to fifth in the dying moments.

BMW and WRT made a solid if unspectacular start to their Bathurst debut together by finished seventh and 16th.

Second practice begins at 11:05 local time.
