Top Qualifying at this year's ADAC Ravenol 24h Nürburgring has been postponed until 16:00 local time after Laurens Vanthoor crashed heavily at Aremberg on his first flying lap.
The session was immediately stopped thanks to the barrier damage resulting from the Scherer Sport PHX Porsche's heavy impact. Vanthoor climbed from the car unaided before walking away, but the team - which is based next door to the Nordschliefe - now faces a race against time to be ready for Saturday's start.
None of the 17 contenders had set a time before the stoppage. Top Qualifying will now be reduced to just one flying lap, while the Q3 - which was due to start at 16:15 - looks set to be shortened.
