Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS entry takes shape

+ 27 GT3 cars confirmed for IGTC and GT World Challenge America powered by AWS finales
+ Provisional entry list

27 GT3 cars – the most for an Intercontinental GT Challenge event held on US soil since 2021 – will contest the Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS on October 16-18.

The globe-trotting series shares its season finale with GT World Challenge America powered by AWS whose 2025 overall and class champions will also be crowned at the Brickyard. Its 18 registered entries are joined by local teams making guest appearances or those travelling from further afield specifically for IGTC. There is also variety thanks to eight manufacturers, while nine cars are currently listed in Pro: the most likely class to battle for overall victory.

This will be Intercontinental’s ninth appearance in America and sixth consecutive race at Indy after previously visiting Laguna Seca. 21 of this year’s cars are eligible to score IGTC points on behalf of the series’ four registered manufacturers: BMW, Ferrari, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche.

This season’s international contingent includes Team WRT, which won at IMS in 2024 and added a second Intercontinental victory to its 2025 tally at Suzuka last Sunday. The same two M4s it raced there are now en route to Indianapolis where they as well as three more entries split between Random Vandals and Turner spearhead BMW’s quest for its maiden IGTC manufacturers’ crown.

One of Bavaria’s three factory drivers – new points’ leader Kelvin van der Linde plus Raffaele Marciello and Augusto Farfus – are now guaranteed to win the drivers’ title. However, their Indy participation is yet to be officially confirmed.

With a maximum 43 points available for finishing one-two, Porsche is still more than capable of overturning its 18-point deficit. And, what’s more, seven 911s make it the joint-best represented manufacturer. Its American outfits RS1 and Wright Motorsports – which finished second overall last year – lead the line once again.

Per GT World Challenge America regulations, all Pro line ups must feature a Silver graded driver. This was also the case three years ago when Craft-Bamboo masterminded Mercedes-AMG’s victory. Seven of its cars will hope to pull off the same feat in one month’s time. However, its best bets for success appear to be GMR, whose equipment is also heading to America from Japan, and Lone Star Racing.

The hopes of Intercontinental’s fourth full-season manufacturer, Ferrari, rest with AF Corse USA. However, its Pro-Am and Am entries are primarily focused on class results.

Aston Martin, Chevrolet, Ford and McLaren complete this year’s manufacturer roster.

Elsewhere, six points cover IGTC’s top Independent Cup protagonists. And all three – joint leaders Antares Au (Wright Motorsports) and Ralf Bohn (Herberth), plus Kenny Habul (75 Express) – are confirmed for Indy. Another of the championship’s regulars, Adrian D’Silva (EBM), has also entered.

The event’s packed support programme includes Pirelli GT4 America, GT America powered by AWS, TC America powered by Skip Barber, McLaren Trophy America and GR Cup North America, all of which take centre stage on Sunday 19 October.

As ever, the 8 Hour begins at lunchtime on Saturday before finishing in darkness at 20:20 local time.
