+ Result: Pre-Qualifying, Indianapolis
The JMF Motorsports team led a Mercedes-AMG clean sweep of the top Pre-Qualifying times at Indianapolis, with Mikael Grenier emerging out front.
The #34 Mercedes-AMG hit the front of the times relatively early, with Grenier taking just 10 laps to dip into the 1:23.2s bracket before handing across to team-mates Lucas Auer and Michai Stevens to complete the session.
Grenier’s time capped a dominant session for the German brand, with Mercedes-AMGs filling the top four spots. The 75 Express car was second fastest thanks to Will Power’s best time falling just 0.1s shy of Grenier’s benchmark. Despite this being his GT3 debut, Power proved that he has adapted rapidly to a new car alongside Kenny Habul and Chaz Mostert.
The Lone Star Racing car that had led the way in Free Practice was third with Jules Gounon, Maxime Martin and Lin Hodenius, while Colin Braun, George Kurtz and Toby Sowery were fourth for CrowdStrike Racing, a result that also put the trio top of the Pro-Am order.
Turner Motorsport was top of the non-Mercedes-AMG runners as Justin Rothberg, Patrick Gallagher and Robby Foley finished sixth and second in Pro-Am. The Dollahite Racing Ford Mustang crewed by Scott Dollahite, Eric Powell and Stefano Gattuso was seventh and fastest in Am. Wright Motorsports was the fastest Porsche, with Antares Au, Loek Hartog and Patric Niederhauser finishing eighth.
The title-challenging Team WRT BMWs had a quiet session, with Raffaele Marciello/Augusto Farfus/Al Faisal Al Zubair the fastest of the two in 10th overall, ahead of Kelvin van der Linde, Valentino Rossi and Charles Weerts in 15th.
Qualifying for the Indianapolis 8 Hour is scheduled for 15:35 local time and will be live on the GT World YouTube channel.
