+ Free Practice Result
The DESDER Indy 8 Hour officially began with Chicago Performance and Tuning Co’s Lamborghini setting the pace in Free Practice this evening.
Just four hundredths separated a top three led by Loris Spinelli whose 1m23.686s edged out Loek Hartog’s Kellymoss Porsche by 0.024s, and the Dollahite Racing Ford of Alex Sedgwick by a further 0.016s.
Spinelli’s lap was a fraction slower than Ayhancan Güven managed in the day’s earlier test session.
2022 Indy 500 winner but GT3 debutant Marcus Ericsson made it as many different manufacturers in the top four aboard his Random Vandals BMW, albeit two tenths down on Spinelli’s time.
GMG’s Porsche driven by Riccardo Pera finished fifth but was also one of two cars to bring out a red flag early in the running. Güven stopped on the inside of Turn 6 at approximately the same time as Lone Star Racing’s Mercedes-AMG, driven by Alex Palou, suffered a bake disc explosion heading into Turn 1.
The quickest Pro class time was set by Turner Motorsport’s Robby Foley who finished eighth overall behind Wright Motorsport’s #31 Porsche and #27 JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG.
The Scuderia Corsa Ferrari of Conrad Grunewald paced the Am class, which only saw two of the three cars set laps in the dusk-turned-night session.
Friday’s extensive track action begins with Pre-Qualifying at 09:50 EST. Watch it live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.
